Hi-Ho-Hi-Ho, it’s off to pack I go!

8 Nov

I’m wrestling right now with conflicting emotions: guilt over not blogging this whole week and something resembling panic as our moving day (Nov. 29th) approaches. For the 6th time in 10 years, my husband and I (and our little dog too) are on the move again.

After all these years we have a certain procedure established and this move is no exception.  My main responsibility in all this chaos is the final packing of the house and point-person for the movers the day they load and later when they unload at the new place.  I don’t know if it’s different in other countries but here there is a system of numbered stickers & checklists when moving with one of the big brand-named moving companies.  I’ve always been the appointed check-mark person who sits in a lawn chair for 4-5 hours as things are unloaded and the guys yell out the numbers off the boxes as they walk by.  Since things go off in 3-4 different directions (garage, basement, kitchen, garden shed) the only place to be seated for this task is right at the truck.  It’s okay really (except the year it was minus 25 C and snowing) and I get excited when I recognize a box going by and know what’s waiting inside.

But before I get to cross that finish line I first have to pack it all.  We keep the boxes move after move and so it’s essentially assembling each box, reading the label on the outside and packing those items.  Easy-peazy.

And of course, I have assembled the materials I need for wrapping and labeling.  We buy that brown packing paper by the box and several moves ago we invested in our own tape-gun.  For me that’s been the greatest thing invented since sliced bread!

A new task this time around is the extra task of packing up the stock after our shop (DesignWorks Studio) closes it’s door on November 20th.  Before I box up any stock that doesn’t sell, I must do an inventory!

Okay….there it is, that panicky feeling.

Turquoise Smile

5 Nov

While my passion color is Royal Purple – I love this turquoise filled color-scheme and these photos are going in my inspiration file!

I saw these photos on the House of Turquoise blog and instantly felt all giddy and happy all over.

Some say it’s just too much color and that they’d get tired of it pretty fast.  Well, I’m sure I wouldn’t.  And I’d like to try it out as an experiment – OK Honey??

Waking up in such a house and seeing all that color…………..hey that’s me sliding down the banister!  (Kidding – I know I’d fall off sideways)

The whole house (beach house actually – uh, yah) is done in amazing color.  Of course, the gorgeous colors are assisted by the fabulous Miami light.

So don’t worry Honey, I won’t be re-creating this up here in the North – just wouldn’t be the same.  But, a girl can dream & drool.

Big, Giddy, Full-wall Mural, Colorful Smiles all around!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
